Many have written about the slow down of the economy since September of 2007, and especially in the southern Florida region, talking about south of Orlando Florida and all the way to the Florida Key's, this territory is haven to many Americans and people coming from all over the world, it is also the capital of Cruising, ship that is. With two of the biggest ports Port of Miami and Port Everglades, many ships leave and come in these two ports, the cruise industry is actually doing very good is exceeding the expectations of many, obviously the shipping industry has cut back on prices but this cut back is helping out not only the shipping industry but also the Hotel industry of southern Florida.
The area of Ft. Lauderdale and Miami are major hubs not only for the shipping industry but also for the airline industry, with two major airports, Miami International and Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood International, which Miami International is also called the gateway to Latin America, with hundreds of flyits daily, Miami International is also a major hub for the European airlines, as lots of Europeans fly directly to Miami and from Miami to diferent destinations, in the Caribians or Latin America.
The Hotel industry actually is doing better than expected, and this is because the Europeans are flying in to southern Florida, were they stay for a couple of days and after they take of for their cruise or other parts in the Caribien or Florida. With so many ships to choose from and so many destinations, no wander people are coming in to southern Florida and getting on a cruise of their life time. All these people are filling up the hotels and restaurants which is good business for all of us leving here in this region. Obviuslly the Hospitality industry has lost alot of good workers, and also management at the same time, but in other part of the U.S. the situation is wors.
Most of the hotels who lay on the sandy shores are mostly occupied during Thursday to Sunday gigs, many hotels are at bargain prices even the well known like The Fountain Blue, or the Diplomat on Hollywwod beach together with the Crowne Plaza Hotel, and many more.
Many of the managers who still have their job are doing the work of two or three people, but guess what is still better than not having a job. The hotels who are really hurting are those who are more inland away from the sandy beaches. This is a cut throught business at this moment, and owners who invested money in a hotel which is on the beach or walking distance from it are doing much better than thowse who are away from it.
